Establish your Family Heritage Library.

The first stage in preserving your family’s heritage is the capture and preservation of the family story. At HeritageKeep®, we refer to this as establishing your Family Heritage Library. This Library will grow over time to not only reflect the past, but to encompass the future as well. The family’s history, traditions and collective wisdom are held in part through the family’s possessions – artifacts like photographs, film, videos, journals, diaries, letters, documents, records and family heirlooms. HeritageKeep® catalogs and archivally preserves all such family heritage assets. These assets are digitally scanned, securely stored and backed up, not only for preservation purposes, but to facilitate access to the Library.

More significant than artifacts are the living memories and knowledge of family members, friends and colleagues. Through video or audio interviews, HeritageKeep® captures the invaluable recollections, reflections, wisdom, advice, instructions and requests of these cherished persons.

The other major source of material for the Family Heritage Library comes from HeritageKeep® research. Extensive exploration is undertaken to fill the gaps in what is known within the family and to paint the historical backdrop for your family story. HeritageKeep® provides a broad range of research disciplines, including:

• Genealogy: the family tree of relatives
• Biography: the life stories of individuals
• History: the times in which family members lived
• Genetics: specific relationships, ethnic composition and paths of migration
• Antiquity: origins and valuation of heirlooms and antiques
